Activities and Ministries of our Sunday School Class

Members of WOW First Baptist Church Sunday School Class

As we begin a new year, 2014, I want to remind you and ask you to renew your commitments to the activities and ministries of our Sunday School Class. Please pray about how you may be involved in these activities and ministries.

WOW CLASS ACTIVITIES AND MINISTRIES
1. Attendance in class each week
2. Complete homework assignments each week
3. Prayer support for class members
4. Outreach to inactive members and prospects
5. Prayer support for our sponsored child
6. Financial support for our sponsored child
7. Participate as a worker in the clothes closet at First Baptist Church
8. Participation in social outings to enjoy fellowship with class members

MISSION MINISTRIES
We decided as a class to participate in two mission ministries as a class. The two ministries are:
1. To sponsor a child through Compassion International and 2. To work in the clothes closet at our church.

SPONSORED CHILD
Let me give you some information about our child that we sponsor.
His name is Martin Sanou.
Birthday: July 2, 2006
Country: Burkina Faso in Africa

The commitment to sponsor a child involves financial support, prayer, and personal contact.
Financial
The cost to sponsor Martin through Compassion International is $38.00 per month. In December and January we used the money from our class account. For the remaining months of this year, I am asking that a class member commit to pay for one month. I will have a sign up calendar on Sunday, so if you want to sponsor Martin for one month you may sign up for a specific month.  When your month comes, give your money or check to Margaret. The monthly charge for sponsorship is set-up on her charge card.
Prayer
I am going to post a picture of Martin Sanou in our class room so that we will remember to pray for him. Please add him to your prayer list.
Contact
Several times during the course of the year Martin will write to us. Margaret has been responding to his letters. She also sent him a picture of the members of our class.  Margaret has some billfold size pictures of Martin if you would like to have one.

CLOTHES CLOSET
The clothes closet of First Baptist Church is on second floor in two class rooms. Debbi Frazier is the leader of the operation of this ministry. We decided as a class to give her some help and  to establish the ministry of having clothes available to our community as a mission activity of our class members.

The following times are available for you to work: Wednesday 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon or Saturday morning at 10:00. We will decide one Saturday a month for our class members to work. That date will be announced in Class.

At the change of season, when people or cleaning out their closets and bringing clothes to the church closet there is more work to do. During that time we may schedule additional times to work. This is a worth while ministry, so I hope that you will commit to help during this next year.

The new testament church grew because of meeting together, prayer, fellowship, and serving others. The Bible states:
Ephesians 6:7 "Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether slave or free."

Psalm 100:2 "Serve the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs."
