Explore the Bible Personal Study Guide: page 101; Section 10
Shepherd's Notes: Hebrews 10 pages 61-67 and Hebrews 11 pages 68-75
Memory Verse: Hebrews 11:6
"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exits and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."
Key Doctrine:
"Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Savior."
Please bring your handout of study questions for Hebrews 8,9,10. We will start our class with a brief review of Hebrews 8 and 9. Then we will look at an outline of Hebrews 10 and some key verses. In Hebrews 10:26-39 the writer states the fourth warning of five.
Fourth warning: In Shepherd's Notes on page 65 he lists the several acts of disobedience for believers to avoid:
1. They must be vigilant to avoid deliberate sin (10:26)
2. They must also be careful not to spurn the Son of God (10:29)
3. They must not profane the blood of the covenant (10:29)
4. They must not throw away their confidence (10:35) or shrink back from our commitment (10:39)
Also in Hebrews 10:22-29 the writer lists exhortations to the believers.
Each of these begin with the phrase "Let us". There are thirteen of these statements in the book of Hebrews as we have noted and listed them on a note page in the back of Shepherd's Notes. Please add these next three to your list:
1. 10:22: Let us draw near in faith (toward God)
2. 10:22-23: Let us draw near in hope (for ourselves)
3. 10:24: Let us draw near in love (for others)
In the end of Hebrews 10, the writer leads the readers into Hebrews 11 where he will give a description of Faith and examples of Old Testament heroes of faith. In Hebrews 11:1-2 are the following key words:
Faith

Substance
Hope
Evidence.
In our class session we will explore the meaning of each of these words.
The word faith occurs over 200 times in the New Testament and 24 times in Hebrews 11. Please refer back to our memory verse that is listed at the top of this post. As you study your lesson material this week, think about, how am I living out my Faith in my daily walk in the time that I have on earth?
This is our preparation time before we enter into His Kingdom. After a believer is Justified, born again, he enters a process of sanctification and continues through out his life time to move toward his inheritance.
"And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that my means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Heb. 9:15.
"Giving thanks unto the Father, which has made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son;" Col. 1:12-13
Please plan to be in our class on Sunday. Do not miss out on the study of God's word. The study of Hebrews is a rich study and gives us direction in our "Faith Choices" as we face secularism, our selfish desires, our immoral thoughts, and the attacks of the devil. God has given us authority and power to defeat these enemies. Will you be apart of His Kingdom and rule and reign with Him? Your life now will determine what your inheritance will be in His future Kingdom. Come and study with us and learn more about how to receive your inheritance.
See you Sunday! !
